I would like to recognize Cordellia Strickland, Program Service Instructor at the Woodcrest facility for DSP week. Cordellia has worked at the Woodcrest facility for 5 1/2 years this time and approximately 4 years previously for a total of 9 ½ years with Bost at the Woodcrest facility.

Cordellia was asked “Why do you do what you do?” She stated that she has always enjoyed working with her hands. In the beginning it was solitary work, like upholstery. But something seemed to be missing. Then when she came to work at Bost, she found that missing piece. She states it is a joy to help create positive life experiences for others. She still works with her hands, but in a different capacity. She states that her life is enriched by being of service to others.

Cordellia was also asked “What would you tell someone who is thinking about working in this field?” She stated you must have compassion for the people around you and genuinely enjoy being a care-giver.

Cordellia has worked all 3 shifts during her time at Woodcrest. She has taken on extra duties without being asked such as inventorying items and making lists of needed items. She has an ability to see things that need to be done and does them without being asked. She likes to make sure the consumers and the facility look their best! She plays a large role in decorating the facility for holidays. Which is no small task. She exceeds in housekeeping and personal care for the consumers and never seems to tire of keeping up with what others might consider mundane tasks. Cordellia’s help is relied upon in anything from hosting facility parties to assisting with packing for vacations.

Cordellia is one of the most dedicated workers anyone could hope to have on their Team! She is kind, caring thoughtful and considerate. She gives to both the people we serve and her fellow employees at the facility. When it comes delivering quality services to the people we serve, she is one of the best. She brings to the table a wealth of experience and an eye for seeing and understanding each and every one of our clients for who they are!

I am very proud to have Cordellia working for Bost and the ICF department and commend her on a job well done. Thank you Cordellia.
