Re:  Summary of 2020 BOST employee survey

Date:  January 4, 2021

I would like to thank those of you who took time to complete the BOST employee survey.  Our response rate was much lower than in years past.  This survey enables us to have a more accurate picture of how you feel about working at BOST and it is important to hear from all of you.  Please let us know what we can do different to get your feedback.

The administration team and I have taken time to reflect on your feedback and the themes that arise from it.  This year, some questions were changed and there was some great feedback in the responses received.  The high percentage of agreement on you feel your work is meaningful, you like the company culture, the agency is open to change and you are given the training to do your job well was incredible and makes other areas to work on much easier.  We know that the way to impact your commitment to the children and adults we serve is to make your job the best it can be. In the coming months, we plan to send a more detailed survey regarding communication as this has been and continues to be an area that you all feel needs improvement.  Communication is key to everything and we want to get better at it and need your help.

Overall the responses received were positive, with some concerns in the areas of how we have handled the Covid Pandemic and employee recognition and retention.  This has been the most challenging year we have faced and I know we are all hopeful for better times ahead.  In this past year, amidst Covid, we have continued to work on ways to improve recognition and retention with bonuses and pay increases as well as enacting a sign on bonus and increasing our referral bonus for our existing employees.  We want our employees to feel valued and appreciated and we will continue to strive for ways to make further improvements within the constraints of our system.  In regards to Covid, we want you all to feel as comfortable as we can in unknown times.  If you have questions or concerns please reach out to Sam Clayton, Human Resources Director, or Jarrod McClain, Director of Nursing, as they are leading our team in our COVID pandemic plans and stay up to date with all outside information.

If you have any further comments or suggestions please feel free to get with your department director or email me at kmraines@bost.org
