As an ECDS, you will be expected to maintain confidentiality of all Children’s Services consumers, attend training seminars, direct classroom activities, receive 36 Professional Development hours annually in accordance with the Arkansas Department of Education Licensure Standards, provide developmental evaluations for new referrals and annually for children enrolled in programs, and provide daily support, teacher consultation/supervision to Child Development Aides.
Additional responsibilities will include maintaining compliance in digital files for all children on caseload, mentor and train new CDA’s regarding classroom expectations, completing quarterly reports, perform comprehensive developmental devaluations, write and modify Individual Treatment Plans (ITP), attend all conferences of children that are responsible for Certified Teachers, develop classroom schedules/lesson plans with the input of Child Development Aides (CDAs), and other related duties assigned by Children’s Services Director.
Qualifications included being a licensed Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, or Developmental Therapist. An alternative qualification would be having a bachelor’s degree, plus one of the following: a) Current Arkansas state certification in Early Childhood or Early Childhood Special Education; b) a current Child Development Associate Certificate, c) A current Birth to pre-K credential; or Early Intervention Day Treatment Section II, d) Documented experience working with children with special needs and 12 hours of completed college courses in any of the following area: i) Early Childhood, ii) Child Development, iii) Special Education/Elementary Education or iv) Child and Family Studies.
